Phil has accumulated more than 50 years of experience preparing architectural specifications and complete project manuals for architects, owners, and product manufacturers.

As a founding principal of the well-respected specification consulting firm Spiker Baldwin Associates, Inc. in 1993, he has worked on hundreds of projects across the United States with over forty architectural firms. Individual project values have extended beyond $20+ million.

Phil and Chris met originally in 1998 and have known each other for more than 20 years.

Professional Background

In addition to co-founding his own consulting firm, Phil has worked with multi-disciplinary architectural firms throughout the southeast where he managed construction administration services, provided architectural specifications, and construction project manuals.

Phil is a Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) Certified Construction Specifier (CCS) and enjoys active membership in CSI and Specification Consultants in Private Practice (SCIP). As an educator, Phil has taught specification writing courses at the Lexington (Kentucky) Institute of Technology and has provided numerous CSI regional specification writing training seminars.

Additionally, Phil has received professional citations for outstanding specification writing from CSI and received the Bodin-Wells Memorial Award for proficiency in specification writing from the Atlanta Chapter of CSI.

Architecture

Early in his career, Phil worked directly in several multi-disciplinary architectural, engineering, and interior design firms located in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Georgia where his responsibilities included management of the architectural construction administration department in addition to architectural specifications and complete project manual development.

Specification Consulting

Providing architectural specification consulting services for an extensive variety of construction projects including public schools, hotels, shopping centers, health care facilities, post offices, athletic facilities, higher education facilities, private residences, and more.
